New York MMA bill’s sponsor explains current impasse on sport’s legalization

A divide among New York Democrats has stalled the legalization of MMA, says state assemblyman Steven Englebright.

Englebright, a Democrat who chairs the assembly's Tourism, Parks, Arts
and Sports Development Committee, has twice sponsored legislation that
would legalize MMA in the Empire State. Last year, his committee
green-lighted the sport, and this year, the state senate gave the OK.

But following recent developments, Englebright is not optimistic that MMA will be
voted on this year.

Weigh ins will start at 8:30- 10:00, you do not have to weigh in with your gi. Everyone entered will have a chance to win a Hiro gi via a drawing as well as fight shorts. Pre reg is now available on mma tv or objjf.com please go to events to register. There will be special awards for top teams in women, men, and kids this year. Flat screen TV will be awarded to the absolute winner this year as well. The weight classes will go every 13lbs or with the exception of the light and heavy weights: 154.9-under and 210-up.
