Here are two of my matches from the UGC XI event held in PA this past weekend (April 18th 2010). No Gi Advanced 160lb. - 180lb. First match was cut some what short due to an injury my opponent sustained during his first match. I opted to skip a handful of submissions so that he could have a fair opportunity to defend during the match, but his wrist seemed so jacked that a default was inevitable. Props to dude for trying to work through the pain. Second match I lost on points to 3rd generation Brown Belt (Rick). I managed to hold him to points, but I am honestly far from satisfied due to my feeling that I could have done better on many accounts. At this point I think its obvious that I need to deviate my Judo arsenal for No Gi since I am to postured which resulted in one clean take down by Rick, and a high single which forced me to roll through which also scores as a take down. Its time to get to work on wrestling and or developing a better game plan for pulling guard. I need to get out there after it and pull the trigger on take downs and forget about the consequences for a change.
