CHICAGO, Ill. (August 12, 2010) – Bellator Fighting Championships officially announced today that Russian heavyweight Alexey Oleinik is the latest and final addition to the Bellator Season 3 World Heavyweight Tournament. The Judo black belt is not only one of the most respected fighters in Russia, but also one of the most dangerous heavyweight submission specialists in the sport. Oleinik brings a phenomenal 27-5-1 record to the tournament with 23 of those 27 victories coming via submission.
“Alexey Oleinik is a great final addition to this stacked heavyweight tournament,” said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “He’s one of the most threatening and versatile heavyweights in the sport with extremely dangerous submission skills, which makes him a legitimate threat to anyone he faces in the heavyweight division.”
The 33 year old was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine but currently fights out of Moscow. He trains out of Red Devil Sports Club and is a Master of Sports in Sambo. Oleinik is known and feared for the rare Ezekiel Choke finish which he has used successfully on six of his previous opponents.
Oleinik met fellow heavyweight tournament participant Rogent Lloret last August where the two fought to a draw, setting up a potentially interesting rematch opportunity in Bellator Season 3. Oleinik holds impressive victories over the likes of Jessie Gibbs and Thiago “Big Monster” Santos.
Oleinik is the eight confirmed participant in the forthcoming Season 3 Heavyweight World Tournament along with undefeated European sensation Damian “The Polish Pitbull” Grabowski, Seattle-area knockout artist Mike “300″ Hayes, Georgia-based ground and pound specialist Scott Barrett, British-based power-puncher Neil Grove, Spanish submission ace Rogent Lloret, two-time NCAA wrestling champion Cole Konrad, and heavy handed Alexey UFC veteran Eddie Sanchez
The Bellator Season 3 Heavyweight Tournament kicks off on Aug. 12th and can be viewed LIVE on Fox Sports Net.

Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin will have to get in line as a light heavyweight fight between former coach and pupil, Tito Ortiz and Matt Hamill, is currently on the horizon.
The fight is headed to UFC 121 on October 23 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
News of the match-up comes directly from UFC President Dana White, who confirmed the bout via text to MMAFighting.com.
Ortiz was Hamill’s coach during the third season of The Ultimate Fighter. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” showed a soft spot in his heart for Hamill during the show and took him under his wing during training sessions.
The fight will mark Ortiz’ first return to action since suffering a split decision defeat at the hands of Forrest Grifin in a November 2009 return to action. Ortiz went on to coach the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter where a neck inury forced him to the sidelines from the show and an anticipated showdown with longtime rival Chuck Liddell.
Hamill is on a four-fight win streak in the UFC, although a recent disqualification victory obtained over Jon Jones could be viewed as a defeat being that the TUF 3 veteran was pummelled from start to finish. Most recently Hamill handed Keith Jardine his walking papers with a majority decision victory at “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz Finale”.
Set to headline UFC 121 is a heavyweight title fight between champion Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez.

Marc Stevens will be among 28 lightweights to appear on the debut episode of the twelfth season of The Ultimate Fighter.
FiveOuncesofPain.com recently confirmed Stevens’ involvement in the show through sources close to the situation.
Stevens sports an overall record of 12-5 and is currently riding a 4-fight win streak. His last appearance in the cage came in September of 2009 where Stevens submitted Al Buck with a first round rear-naked choke.
“The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck” will debut on Spike TV on September 15, 2010. Coaches Georges St Pierre and Josh Koscheck will clash at the conclusion of the season for the UFC Welterweight Championship.

each now know which challenger they will face in the rapidly approaching
third season in company history.
With that in mind, our weekly MMAjunkie.com/"Inside MMA" poll asked
readers to predict which champion was least likely to maintain his belt
in his upcoming title defense.
The results were revealed on this past Friday's new edition of HDNet's
weekly MMA news show, and while Eddie Alvarez, Lyman Good, Hector
Lombard and Joe Soto each received a healthy amount of votes, one
champion was targeted heavily by our readers.

Press Release
CHICAGO, Ill. (July 12, 2010) — Bellator Fighting Championships’ upcoming Season 3 Bantamweight Tournament continued to take shape today with the addition of 14-2 fan favorite Travis “The Hurricane” Reddinger.
The 28-year-old Pittsburgh native and St. Paul, Minn., transplant – who enters the tournament in the midst of a four-fight win streak – is known for his power, relentless approach and the oversized “BELLATOR” tattoo etched across his torso.
Reddinger says he got the tattoo about 4 ½ years ago, long before Bellator Fighting Championships exploded onto the MMA scene.
“For me it just symbolizes perseverance and the never-say-die mentality that I strive for,” he said. “I know that Bellator stands for the warrior mentality as well, so it’s a great honor for me to be a part of the organization. The tournament concept suits me really well and I love the exposure of being on national TV. It’s all pretty surreal still. I don’t think the gravity of it all has really hit me yet.”
Reddinger is the fourth confirmed participant in the Bantamweight Tournament along with Kansas City brawler Danny Tims, Las Vegas-based BJJ brown belt Ulysses Gomez and fast-rising Wyoming native Nik Mamalis, who gained entry into the tournament with two stunning wins during Bellator Season 2.
Reddinger got his start in MMA in June 2005 and took his first fight about three months later, winning each of his first six pro fights decisively via TKO or submission.
The 5’ 10” bantamweight now trains under the renowned MMA coach Sergio Cunha who was a trainer for both Brazilian Top Team and Chute Box Academy and worked with MMA champions past and present like Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva, the Noguiera Brothers, BJ Penn and Shogun Rua.
In addition to his full-time training regimen, Reddinger is also a full-time nursing student and shares in the role of raising his 5-month-old son, Traden, along with his fiancé, Kayla.
“Being a father, it gives all of this a lot bigger purpose,” he said. “It’s not just me I’m fighting for. I’m looking to do something life-changing for my family.”
Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney said that Reddinger poses a very real threat to whomever he faces once the tournament begins on August 12th on FOX Sports Net.
“Travis is a great competitor and someone to keep an eye on in our Bantamweight Tournament,” Rebney said. “I know that he is planning on making the most of this opportunity and he definitely has the skills to make a major impact.”
