UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar believes
there's no one quite like B.J. Penn to get him
ready to fight.
Edgar said taking the belt from "The Prodigy" at UFC 112 has done great
things for his confidence, but he also knows it would be a severe
mistake to get too comfortable.
He's done his best to make a fresh start when the two square off again at UFC 118 this Saturday at Boston's TD Garden.

HOUSTON - Despite a recent Twitter message to the contrary, Strikeforce welterweight Jay Hieron is not a free agent just yet.
Early Saturday morning, Hieron stated he had "finally got my release from [Strikeforce]," which prompted speculation of a potential move to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
But following Saturday's Showtime-televised "Strikeforce: Houston" event in Texas, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker told MMAjunkie.com that's not exactly the case.

HOUSTON - If you think Jorge Gurgel is holding a grudge or ticked over
some apparent late blows at Saturday's "Strikeforce: Houston" event,
think again.
Before K.J. Noons could even defend himself and explain that a punch at
the end of round one and an illegal second-round knee strike were both
unintentional, opponent Jorge Gurgel came to his defense.
Like his opponent later argued, Gurgel said Noons isn't a dirty fighter.

HOUSTON - Fighters from Saturday's "Strikeforce: Houston" event did not undergo typical fight-night drug testing.
The Aug. 21 event, held at the Toyota Center in Houston, fell under the regulatory oversight of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The commission typically doesn't conduct testing despite regulating more MMA events than 74 of North America's 76 athletic commissions in 2009.
After the show, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker told MMAjunkie.com that the organization didn't request testing or implement its own.
