Registration fees are non-refundable. NO EXCEPTIONS. Spectators fee is $7 per day. All competitors must weigh-in on the day of the tournament right before they step into the mat with his or her gi on. Competitors that are over weight will be automatically disqualified.

Attention Parents: In order to keep the tournament on time and avoid mismatches make sure your kid is signed up for the right division. Double check their weight with their Gi on!!!

The creators of the US Open, Claudio Franca Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, are honored to announce the 3rd American Cup Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament.

On Saturday, May 1, 2010 the first day of the tournament, is exclusively for kids year born 1995 – 2006 and purple belt ranks of all weights. The cost for kids early registration until Thursday April 22nd is $50.00. From April 23-26, 2010, registration changes to $65.00.

On Sunday May 2, 2010 the second day of the tournament, will be for competitors in the Juvenile, Adult, Master, Senior I, Senior II and Female Age Divisions of white, blue, brown, and black belt rankings. The cost of early registration for Juveniles, Adults, Masters, Seniors and Females until Thursday April 22nd is $65.00. From April 23 – 26, 2010, registration changes to $80.00.

Gorilla Pit is happy to announce the hosting of seminars with Chad Aichs and Matt Wenning. These will both be full day events and limited to 15 bodies per seminar. Price is $150 per spot, refreshments (water-snacks) provided. Matt Wenning will be coming May 15th, 2010 and the registration deadline is April 25th. Chad Aichs will be coming June 26th and the registration deadline is June 5th.

Competition will begin at 9am on Saturday and end at 8pm. In addition to awards, the first 300 competitors to register will get a free tournament t-shirt. Whether you are competing or watching, we look forward to seeing you there.

• Bent knee locks, neck cranks, bicep locks, heel hooks, cervical locks, scissor takedowns and slamming will not be permitted. The competitor will be disqualified if any of those techniques are used.


• Guillotine or any type of foot locks will not be permitted for Kids (4-15) or any White belt competitor.


• Leg locks or toe-holds will not be permitted for Blue and Purple belts, only straight foot locks.


• Single elimination tournament.


• Any competitor who does not show up for a match will automatically forfeit the match and registration fee.


• Arrive 30 minutes prior to your match.


• Competitor disqualified will lose his or her registration fee.


• There is never a draw. Bouts will be decided by: points, submission, advantage, disqualification and referee interruption.


• The Gracie Barra Competition network is not responsible for accident, injury, or death as a result of the tournament.


• This tournament will be a double elimination tournament for competitors under the age of 15. There will be a winners bracket to determine 1st, and 2nd place. After 1 loss competitors will move to the 3rd place bracket. The winner of this bracket will be third place.
