Hardly a day goes by that UFC president Dana White isn't asked about his
promotion's progress on helping the sport of mixed martial arts gain
regulation in the state of New York.

One of the few remaining North American outposts that doesn't regulate
MMA, New York has appeared close on several occasions to reversing its
position on the sport, but ultimately, the legislature has yet to act.

Much of the opposition has been led by New York Assemblyman Bob Reilly, and he doesn't appear to be softening his stance.

As it turns out, UFC president Dana White believes in second, or maybe third, chances.

Nine months after White gave Karo Parisyan his
walking papers, the welterweight veteran is octagon bound once again for
a meeting with Dennis Hallman at UFC 123.

Although not officially announced by the promotion, UFC 123 is expected
to take place Nov. 20 at Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Michigan.

Well, that didn't take long.

UFC welterweight Thiago Alves is more than willing
to fight up-and-comer Mike Pierce this fall. Alves plans to text UFC president Dana White for a possible booking at UFC 123 on Nov. 20.

"I would be more than happy to beat [Pierce's] ass if the UFC allows me," Alves told MMAjunkie.com. "I will show him some love, definitely."

UFC president Dana White had some harsh comments concerning lightweight fighter Kenny Florian, saying the fighter crumbles under the pressure when faced with big fights.

Florian lost a three round unanimous decision to Gray Maynard Saturday night on the main card of UFC 118. Maynard dominated his opponent throughout the fight, putting Florian on his back several times without fear of Florian’s Jiu-Jitsu.

“I hate to say this because I don’t want to take anything away from Gray Maynard, but I think Kenny is just one of those guys who chokes in big fights. I’m not bad-mouthing him or trying to disrespect him; I’m just being honest. Every time it’s a big fight and there’s a lot of things on the line, Kenny just … Kenny’s hands are unbelievable. Kenny’s ground is unbelievable. Kenny usually kicks guys to the body and legs so hard that he busts guys up. You didn’t see any of that tonight. He stood there and stared at Gray Maynard for three rounds.”

“You’d think his corner would say, ‘Dude, you just lost the first two rounds.’ No sense of urgency in the third round,” White said. “Not saying, ‘I need a knockout or submission in this round.’ None of it. Nothing. And I guarantee you if Kenny comes back and fights one of the mid-level guys, he’ll probably run through them like a f—ing freight train. But the big fights? He crumbles, man.”

BOSTON - UFC 118 drew 15,575 attendees for a solid $3 million gate, UFC president Dana White announced in the night's post-fight press conference.

The event, which took place Saturday, was hosted by Boston's TD Garden and marked the UFC's debut in the state of Massachusetts.

Official figures will be made available in the coming weeks, but it the preliminary numbers hold up, UFC 118 scored the fifth highest attendance of the UFC's 15 events this year.

The winner of Saturday's UFC 118 co-headliner between Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard will, in fact, get a shot at the lightweight title.

UFC president Dana White today confirmed the plans in today's pre-UFC 118 press conference at the Great Hall in Boston's historic Faneuil Hall.

Of course, immediately following Florian vs. Maynard on Saturday, lightweight champion Frankie Edgar takes on B.J. Penn.
