A featherweight bout between Raphael Assuncao and L.C. Davis is in the works for November's WEC 52 event.

Assuncao Tweeted news of the bout earlier today. A source close to the event told MMAjunkie.com verbal agreements are in place but that bout agreements haven't been signed.

MMAjunkie.com first passed along news of the event location earlier this month, and Nevada State Athletic Commission executives recently made it official.

The night's Versus-televised main card is headlined by former featherweight champ Urijah Faber's bantamweight debut, which comes against former title challenger Takeya Mizugaki.

A fighter many consider the most underrated - and under-appreciated - lightweight in MMA today finally will get the chance to prove he's world class.

The news was confirmed today by sources close to the organization, who told MMAjunkie.com the veteran has signed a four-fight deal and will soon make his octagon debut.

UFC 123 is set to take place at The Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan and will feature a main event bout between Lyoto Machida and Quinton Jackson. The news was first reported by MMAFighting.com.

Both former champs are coming off losses, with Jackson losing via decision at UFC 114 and Machida losing the light heavyweight title against current champion Mauricio Rua at UFC 113. A win by either fighter would certainly put them into contention for a match up against whoever wins the Rashad Evans vs. Mauricio Rua matchup, especially if Machida takes the bout.

Former IFL welterweight champ Jay Hieron has at last secured his release from Strikeforce after being kept on the sidelines since this past January. The news of Hieron’s newfound “free agent” status came via his Twitter account.

“I finally got my release from Strikeforce… Y’all know what I’m about to do!!!!!!! I have been through a lot of sh*t this past year but I have trained the whole time. So all welterweights take notice – I’m coming for somebody’s head…”

The 34-year old “Thoroughbred” is 19-4 overall and is currently on a seven-fight win streak. Hieron’s last fight for Strikeforce was a unanimous decision victory over Joe Riggs at “Strikeforce – Miami”. Other than Riggs, he also has notable wins in his career over Jason High, Jesse Taylor, Pat Healy, and Jake Ellenberger.

Canadian fans and mixed martial arts fans in general must be ecstatic with the news that Ontario will allow MMA events. Canada is certainly one of the hotbeds of potential MMA fans, and the UFC shows that have made it North of the border have been some of the most successful in company history.

A broken arm has forced Jorge Rivera out of his UFC 118 bout with fellow middleweight Alessio Sakara.

Rivera first announced the news via his Facebook page, though UFC
officials have not removed the bout from the official fight card. MMAjunkie.com
confirmed the change with a source close to the event, who said he was
aware of the injury.

With ample time, UFC officials likely will search for a replacement,
though without Rivera (a cast member on "The Ultimate Fighter 4"), the
bout potentially could lose its spot on Spike TV's "UFC Prelims"
broadcast.

A heavily rumored rematch between Jamie Varner and Donald Cerrone is in the works for WEC 51,
according to Varner.

The former WEC lightweight champion today confirmed the news on his
personal website. MMAWeekly.com reported earlier that the bout was
signed, and sources close to the event also confirmed to MMAjunkie.com that the bout is a go.

WEC 51 takes place Sept. 30 at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo.,
and airs live on Versus.
