to Tim
show details Mar 25 (10 days ago)
Thanks so much for the extra gear. I now will be mostly training in all MyHouse stuff. I personally now train in your shorts, compression shirt, boxing gloves, MMA gloves and lift in your Dead Lift socks and muscle shirt. And with the extras the guys can get little gifts when they train hard and let their heart show.
Attached is our equipment list that we give all new guys. Let me know what you think.
I really appreciate working with you and your brand. It's good to be able to get quality gear from a local business.
I'm really jacked about a new book I started reading called Day of War by Cliff Graham. It's a great read and thought I put a little plug in about it.
Thanks,
Dustin

A scholastic track and field athlete can only win a state medal in Shippensburg in May. But the process of getting an athlete to reach his or her peak performance in May starts in March, even before the first meet begins.
In any sport, coaches generally want their athletes to play their best at the end of the regular season and through the postseason. But track and field coaches have to approach this a little differently.
A basketball or baseball team wants the team in general to be on an upward trend. If a couple athletes hit a slump late in the season, it might be balanced out by the performance of their teammates.
Track competitors, except in relays, stand alone. When postseason meets arrive, they have to be at their best individually.
Cedar Crest boys track head coach Rob Bare has been finding ways to do that for a generation of Falcon athletes. But he does not have a one-size-fits-all approach to it.
“It’s important for us to look at the team and student athletes we have,” Bare said.
One factor is the number of boys Bare has our for the team. Bare does not give away dual meets in the name of individual results.
“It depends on the depth we have too,” Bare said. “We’ll tell kids that they’ll run four different events one day, or we’ll tell them that they’ll run in just one or two events, then come back in 48 hours and work them really hard again.”
But one thing Bare does look for, year in and year out, is for his athletes to be working hard in the preseason, but not putting up top-notch performances yet.
“Some or our more talented athletes looked good [in practice on Monday], but they didn’t look dynamite yet. I like that,” Bare said. “They’re working hard, but it’s tough to look that good all year, to run, throw and jump for that long at that level...Our job is to run well, throw well and jump well in May.”
One of the keys for Bare is to keep an athlete’s head up in the first half of the season if a throw is still a few feet short of that athlete’s expectations. But usually, Bare said, the Falcons are able to keep their eyes on the prize.
“If the student-athlete buys into the philosophy, it works really well,” Bare said. “For the athletes we’ve been working with for the last 15 years, the vast majority of them did buy into it.”
Among the former Cedar Crest athletes who flourished under this patient approach was Thomas Jordan.
“He was one of the better throwers in the country [in 2003], but he was playing second fiddle to Brad Zimmerman from Warwick,” Bare said. “At the Penn Relays, Zimmerman won it, but Thomas had the second, third and fourth best throws of the meet.”
Those consistent throws were a good omen for Jordan, who finished the year by winning the Lancaster-Lebanon, District 3 and PIAA gold medals with meet records that still stand.
Another Falcon who had his best performance on the biggest stage was Tobias Robinson, who was a 300-meter hurdle silver medalist at the 2006 District 3 Meet, was seeded fifth at states and went on to win the PIAA gold.
"His kind of happened in the last week of the season," Bare said.
Other state champions Bare has coached include Jaren Hayes (2002, 100) and Pete Habegger (2004, long jump).
The first track meets in Lebanon County will be held on March 29th.
LEBANON COUNTY NOTES
- Maddie Hoch provided the lone state gold medal for Lebanon County this winter when she won the PIAA Class AAA girls 500-yard freestyle at Bucknell University with a 4:51.03. It was one of three medals Hoch claimed at the state meet. She also won the 200 freestyle and was part of the Falcons’ 400 freestyle relay team. Hoch, a freshman, had won the 500 freestyle at the District 3 Meet as well.
- Lebanon Catholic’s run at state gold came to an end in last Friday’s quarterfinals, which they lost to Greenwood 45-30. In the Class A playoffs, districts and states combined, the Beavers were 0-2 against the Wildcats, and 5-0 against everyone else.
- Dylan Killian of Annville-Cleona was the only Lebanon County wrestler to compete in the PIAA wrestling tournament. Though he lost his first two matches there in the Class AA 140 competition, Killian still finished the season with a 35-10 record and a District 3 silver medal.

Tylor Unger had modest goals entering the wrestling season.
And for good reason.
He entered the Boiling Springs wrestling room this season as a first-year wrestler. He had plenty of athleticism but was unpolished, unrefined and knew very little as far as moves on the mat.
That was way back in early December. Three months later, he is one of the Bubblers’ most impressive wrestlers and has a clear shot at punching a ticket to next week’s PIAA Wrestling Championships at Giant Center.
Unger shocked the Wilson High School gymnasium by stunning Milton Hershey’s Chris Ramirez 9-2 in the 285-pound Southeast Region quarterfinals to earn a spot in this morning’s semifinal round, which kicks off at 9:30 a.m. The finals are scheduled for 6 p.m.
“I had zero technical experience at the beginning of the season,” Unger, a junior, said. “Now I have tons thanks to coach [Rod] Wright. He showed me some stuff, and I wrestled him every day.
“I had no idea I would get this far. I thought I would have about 10 wins and that is it. All that hard work has paid off for me. This is exhilarating. My heart is beating so fast.”
What is even more amazing is Unger’s short-term memory.
He has been beaten three times by Ramirez already this season. Each time, he has been pinned in the first period, including a 39 second pin in the semifinals of districts a week ago.
But Unger (31-14) got some much needed advice from Wright two minutes before he lined up across from the Spartans senior. And it paid off early with a headlock and slam that netted him three near-fall points and a 5-0 first-period lead.
“You have to forget the past,” Unger said. “You have to move on and go to the next opponent and the next match.
“We changed the game plan a little. It was more defense and less offense. He came charging in, and the headlock was just there. I just listened to coach and followed the plan to precision.”
Ramirez, who is still alive in the consolation bracket, was stunned and really never got on his game the rest of the way, mustering a mere two escapes in six minutes.
Unger, on the other hand, put an exclamation point on his win, thanks to a slam with under a minute left.
“Sometimes it’s not the third but the fourth time,” Wright said. “Chris is such a great guy, and he had our number. I hobbled over two minutes before the match and changed the plan, and it worked to our advantage.
“I knew he could beat him, but I wasn’t expecting him to dominate. A first year wrestler, 31 wins and the semifinals of regionals, that’s almost impossible to coach. I’m so happy for him.”
Boiling Springs has five of its six wrestlers still in the hunt for states. Joe Spisak is the only other semifinalist, as he pinned Schuylkill Valley’s Dakota Davis in 1:27. The Bubblers senior will face Delone Catholic’s Joshua Ruppert this morning.
Despite the loss by Ramirez, the Spartans had plenty to cheer about after Nick Lamoreaux outlasted Northwestern Lehigh’s Dylan Long 8-6 to earn a spot in the semis.
“Last year, I was just happy to be here,” said Lamoreaux, who beat Schuylkill Valley’s Nate Giorgio last week to win districts. “It is a tough bracket, and I’m just looking to make it to states and get a medal.”
Annville-Cleona Dylan Killian carried the Lancaster-Lebanon banner by securing his 100th win with a 1:28 fall over Palmerton’s Dan Costenbader in the quarterfinals.
Win in the semifinals against Juniata’s Seth Beitz, who he pinned at sectionals, and he will make the state tournament for the second year in a row.
“I have a deal with my dad that if I make it to states, I get a moped,” Killian, a junior, said. “Last year, I went to states and went two and out. I had one of the worst draws possible, so hopefully I can get in a better spot this year.”
Juniata placed five wrestlers in the semifinals. Defending state champ Arty Walsh (119) leads the way, followed by Zac Beitz (125), Seth Beitz (140), Dylan Treaster (160) and Dan Fultz (285). Susquenita's Derec Sauve also made the semifinals at 171.

Milton Hershey's Chris Ramirez

(CHRIS KNIGHT, The Patriot-News)
1. Palmyra girls' basketball: The Cougars opened the District 3-AAA playoffs with victories over Twin Valley and Lancaster Catholic before meeting Trinity this week in the semifinals at Giant Center.
2. Katie O'Rourke: The senior guard scorched Lancaster Catholic for 14 first-quarter points on her way to a game-high 18 in a 56-42 win at Conrad Weiser. O'Rourke picked up three fouls early in the second quarter and had to sit out most of the next two quarters.
3. Abbey Radic: With O'Rourke on the bench, much of the senior ball-handling leadership fell to Radic, who responded with 10 points. Rachel Johnson also had 12 points and 16 rebounds in the win over Lancaster Catholic, leaving her with 924 rebounds for her career.
4. Hershey boys and girls: Both teams suffered setbacks in the District 3 quarterfinals, the boys losing to Lancaster Catholic 52-46 in the 3-AAA class, and the girls dropping a 43-25 decision to Reading in AAAA.
5. Hank Kuzma: Hershey's only District 3-AAA championship came in 1974, with 6-foot 6-inch all-state senior Kuzma leading the way. Kuzma went on to a four-year career at the Naval Academy, where his younger brother, Chuck, also played.
6. Tom Brier: Hershey's senior point guard came back from a late-season foot injury to lead the Trojans' second-half comeback against Lancaster Catholic that fell short, due in part to 17 points by LC's Tyler Purvis and 16 by 5-foot-11-inch junior guard Willie Schlosser. Purvis, a tight end on the Crusaders' state championship football team, is the younger brother of Tampa Bay Buccaneers' tight end Ryan Purvis.
7. Nick Lamoreaux: The Milton Hershey 112-pound senior wrestler pulled a major upset in the District 3-AA final with a 1-0 win over Nate Giorgio of Schuylkill Valley, who was state-placed a year ago.
8. Chris Ramirez: Spartan heavyweight also won District 3-AA gold with a 5-1 decision over defending district champ Dan Fultz of Juniata. Ramirez trailed 1-0 entering the third period, then reversed Fultz with 31 seconds left and put him on his back.
9. March 2, 1962: This week marked the 48th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain's historic 100-point game at Hersheypark Arena. The event is memorialized with a marker at the east end entrance to the arena.
10. Philly 169, New York 147: Hershey rims were generous that night. Chamberlain made 36 of 63 field goals, 28 of 32 free throws and had 25 rebounds for the Warriors. Guard Guy Rodgers had 20 assists. For the Knicks, Richie Guerin had 39, Cleveland Buckner 33 and Willie Naulls 31.

High highs and low lows.
There are few other places that these are found so close together as in sports. Cedar Crest’s girls basketball team found that out on Tuesday evening.
In the month of February, the Falcons fought through a four-team race to win the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section I title with a tiebreaker victory over Manheim Twp. Then the Falcons won the L-L tournament, winning against a Lebanon County rival and defeating the top seed in District 3-AA in overtime along the way.
But less than 72 hours after hoisting the L-L trophy and cutting down the net, Cedar Crest’s season came to halt with a 50-39 loss to Hershey in the District 3-AAAA Round of 16.
“They played a solid game, and we came off of some emotional games,” Cedar Crest head coach Gretchen Hall said. “We’re coming down off of [the L-L final] and you’re trying to get up for this.”
The Falcons found themselves behind 25-15 at halftime to the Trojans, but there was still reason for optimism. Cedar Crest had trailed Lancaster Mennonite by 10 points at halftime of the L-L semifinals, and came back to win 52-42 in overtime.
The next day, the Falcons beat Solanco 53-48 for the league title. It was their 21st win of the season and eighth in a row. The last five of those wins came against teams with a combined record of 86-40.
Two of the wins were in overtime. Another, the regular-season finale against Penn Manor, was won on two free throws by Kirsten Clemens with four seconds left.
“We had so many of those close games, we were used to them,” Clemens said after the Solanco game.
With those kind of dramatics, it is understandable that the Falcons were at such an emotional high heading into the district tournament.
“It helps our adrenaline,” senior guard Jazmine Trimble said after the L-L final. “We’ve been in games like this so we know how to play at the end.”
Briefly on Tuesday, it looked like that would be the script again for Cedar Crest. It was a 3-point bucket by Jazmine Trimble that pulled the Falcons to within 32-20 late in the third quarter. But Hershey scored the next 11 points, and Cedar Crest’s season ended with what Hall described as a “devastated” locker room.
But as tough as the loss to Hershey was, it does not make the section or league trophies the Falcons won any smaller.
“This loss does not take away from anything we accomplished,” Hall said. “From the last few games of the season, we came a long way.”
The Falcons’ season also included senior guard Meghan Phillips scoring her 1,000th point in December at Solanco.
LEBANON NOTES
- Entering Wednesday’s nights games, Phillips still leads Lebanon County scorers with 20.3 points per game. Lebanon Catholic’s Hailey Carangelo is right behind her with 20.2. Elco’s Kayla Yoders is in third with 17.8.
- The top boys scorer, as it has been since New Year’s, is Annville-Cleona’s Trey Blanding with 15.4 points per game.
- Cedar Crest boys basketball coach Darren Bossert has announced that he will be stepping down. The Falcons were 15-29 in his two years at the helm.
- Annville-Cleona has seven wrestlers competing in the District 3-AA tournament this weekend. After winning his sectional, Dylan Killian has a bye through to the 140 quarterfinals. Killian was the only Lebanon County wrestler to win his sectional. Also grappling for the Red and White are Tony Yohe (112), T.J. Renninger (119), Chris Shifflet (125), Seth Lehman (130), Aaron Hartman (160) and Jeremy Gibson (189). Shifflet has the most wins in the county with 32.
- Local wrestlers in the 3-AAA tourney include Lebanon’s Keith Witmer (171) and Chris Ahnert (215), along with Palmyra’s Jake Martin (125).
- Swimmers are also getting prepped for districts. In boys’ AAA, Cedar Crest’s Allen Weik is the No. 2 seed in the 500-yard freestyle and the No. 3 seed in the 200 free. Also in the mix are the Falcons’ 200 medley relay and 400 free relay, both of which are seeded third. In AA, Annville-Cleona’s Travis Bohn is No. 2 in the 100 backstroke.
- In girls’ swimming, Maddie Hoch of Cedar Crest is the No. 2 seed in the 500 free. The Falcons’ 400 free relay is seeded third.
