Bonnar - Soszynski III

Take Krzysztof Soszynski’s shirt off and the man looks like a cold blooded killer, but put a microphone in front of the UFC light heavyweight fighter and he’s very respectful and knowledgable about mixed martial arts. Soszynski talks about mentally preparing to fight the same fighter twice, as he gets set to take on TUF 1 finalist Stephan Bonnar at UFC 116 this Saturday.

UFC 116 will feature a main event bout between giant heavyweights Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin and will also feature the return of Sexyama to the ring to take on Chris Leben. The MMA News will carry live complete pre and post coverage of UFC 116: Lesnar Vs. Carwin.

Elliot Worsell, UFC - Krzysztof Soszynski has mastered one dimension and won 20 of 31 professional contests. Now 'The Polish Experiment' is working on the second, third and forth dimensions, all in the hope of gradually emerging as one of the very best light-heavyweights in the world. A late-bloomer and hard-grafter, Soszynski is now on the brink of cracking the big league, yet remains firmly attached to and aware of a time when progression and victories didn't quite some so easy to him.

WanderleiSilvaUFC middleweight Wanderlei Silva has injured his ribs and will not be competing at UFC 116 where he was originally scheduled to take on Yoshihiro Akiyama. Instead Chris Leben has stepped in on extremely short notice and will look to continue to write his comback story which started at The Ultimate Finale 11 where he took out Aaron Simpson. Sexyama, however, is a very good test for any fighter let alone one who will be fighting again so soon.

Akiyama hasn’t fought since UFC 100 where he gained the decision victory over Alan Belcher, increasing his current win streak to 11. While Leben has agreed to fight, the official signing has not yet taken place. The MMA News will update this story as news comes out.

UFC 116 features a main event bout between heavyweight champions Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin which will truly be the battle of the big men, and will also feature a rematch between Stephan Bonna and Krzysztof Soszynski.

But he’d like to fight someone rich like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson or Tito Ortiz, or someone famous.

In all seriousness, Bonnar is ready for his rematch with Krzysztof Soszynski after their fight was stopped at UFC 110 in February. “The American Psycho” is happy that the fight will take place in Las Vegas instead of Australia with “better” qualified doctors who won’t stop a fight because they see some blood.

logo2332Two more bouts look close to being finalized for this July’s UFC 116 event with a middleweight bout between Nate Marquardt (29-9-2) vs. Alessio Sakara (15-7) and a heavyweight matchup featuring “TUF 10″ finalist Brendan Schaub (5-1) vs. Chris Tuchscherer (18-2) making the show.

UFC 116 will take place on July 3rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will air on pay-per-view.

Bout agreements are in place for both fights but have yet to be finalized.

Middleweight Marquardt is looking to erase a loss after dropping a unanimous decision to Chael Sonnen at UFC 109. The fight against Sonnen helped to earn Nate “The Great” his second “Fight Night” honor after both men were awarded the “Fight of the Night” award and was also given the “Knockout of the Night” award for KOing Demian Maia at UFC 102. Marquardt had won three straight before the loss to Sonnen which included victories over Maia, Wilson Gouveia, and Martin Kampmann.

Marquardt will meet a fighter riding a three fight win streak in Sakara who earned a TKO victory over James Irvin at UFC Live: Vera vs. Jones event. He won a split-decision over Thales Leites last summer at UFC 101. Sakara has won nine of his fifteen victories by knockout.

Schaub earned his first UFC victory in his last fight by KOing Chase Gormley in 47 seconds at UFC on Versus 1 in March. He was a member of “The Ultimate Fighter” season 10 and faced Roy Nelson in the finals in December. He was KO’d by the former IFL champ in the first round to lose the Finale. All of Schuab’s victories have come via knockout and lasted no longer than 1 minute and 27 seconds.

Tuchscherer is 1-1 in the UFC like his opponent Schaub, and erased a loss in his debut by earning a majority decision over Canadian Tim Hague at UFC 109. The Minnesota Martial Arts Academy fighter has been known to train alongside heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar. Tuchscherer suffered an unfortunate loss in his debut after taking a crippling kick to the groin by Gabriel Gonzaga.

The current rumored UFC 116 card appears as follows:

    - Brock Lesnar vs. interim champ Shane Carwin (heavyweight title-unification bout)*
    - Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva*
    - Kurt Pellegrino vs. George Sotiropoulos*
    - Nate Marquardt vs. Alessio Sakara*
    - Cheick Kongo vs. Roy Nelson*

    - Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski*

Cheick Kongo 06After signing a new six fight contract with the UFC, French kickboxer Cheick Kongo (15-6-1) appears set to face “TUF 10″ winner Roy “Big Country” Nelson at UFC 116.

Fighters Only Magazine reported the rumor on Friday, saying that Nelson has been one name that has been linked to Kongo’s next bout.

Nelson has since confirmed the matchup, by posting a message via his Twitter page on Saturday.

UFC 116 will take place on July 3rd from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event is headlined by a UFC heavyweight title bout between champ Brock Lesnar, who returns from an almost career ending illness, and heavyweight interim champion Shane Carwin.

Kongo bounced back after back-to-back losses by defeating Paul Buentello in March’s UFC LIVE: Vera vs. Jones event. He submitted Buentello in the third round after delivering several devastating strikes. So far Kongo has gone 8-4 in his twelve fight career with the UFC which began in July of 2006 with a victory over Gilbert Aldana at UFC 61.

Nelson made his UFC professional debut at the “TUF 10″ Finale last December defeating Brendan Schaub in the heavyweight finals to become that seasons champion. The last IFL heavyweight champ has earned back-to-back “Knockout of the Night” awards in both of his UFC bouts, KOing Stefan Struve in the first round at UFN 21 in his last fight.

The current rumored bouts for UFC 116 are as follows:

    - Brock Lesnar vs. interim champ Shane Carwin (heavyweight title-unification bout)*
    - Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva*
    - Kurt Pellegrino vs. George Soitropoulos*
    - Cheick Kongo vs. Roy Nelson*
    - Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski*
    - Matt Brown vs. Chris Lytle*

On July 3rd in Las Vegas, light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar will get the chance to even the score with Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 116. Both men fought recently at UFC 110 in a bout that saw Bonnar receive an accidental headbutt that opened up his scalp, causing the ref to call the fight. Soszynski was awarded the victory which “The American Psycho” disputed to no avail, now both men will have a chance to truly decide a winner.

One of the wildest slugfests this year will be given a reprise at UFC 116, as Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Stephan Bonnar II is being targeted for July.

The pair are set to duke it out once again, this time from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The news of the anticipated showdown comes courtesy of MMAFighting.com, who revealed that Bonnar had already inked his half of the contract for the UFC 116 date.

The dynamic duo went at it the first time during UFC 110 where a grisly gash on the forehead of Bonnar from a third round head butt prompted the contest to be waved off. Suprisingly, the bout was ruled in Soszynski’s favor although a replay of the incident clearly shows that a head butt had created the fight-ending cut.

Krzysztof has come out victorious in seven of his last eight outings, while Bonnar is currently riding a three-fight losing skid.

Stephan Bonnar will get his rematch with Krzysztof Soszynski, and it'll likely come on July 3 at a UFC 116 event headlined by UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar vs. interim title-holder Shane Carwin.

The two light heavyweights first met last month at UFC 110. Bonnar suffered a controversial TKO loss from an illegal head butt, and surprisingly, his appeal was denied.

In a video interview with MMAFighting.com, Bonnar said he received a contract for a rematch at UFC 116.
