It's not very often that fights become larger than life and actually
live up to the hype.
But at this past weekend's WEC 49 event in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada,
Mark Hominick and Yves Jabouin combined to deliver a toe-to-toe battle that lived up to every bit of
the hype generated by eight years of build-up.
Surprisingly, despite getting up off the canvas to deliver a second-round
TKO of Jabouin, Hominick said he wasn't sure exactly how great the fight
was. In fact, there are a few seconds he doesn't even remember.
Leave it to EA Sports to make you want to see Randy “The Natural” Couture take on Fedor Emelianenko after all these years. These guys should handle promotions for both these fighters, as they come off awesome. Will the gameplay live up to the hype? We’ll find out in October 2010.
Jorge “El Conqustador” Rivera recently put together one of the more amusing hype videos in recent memory to promote his upcoming showdown with Nate “The Rock” Quarry.
The pair of heavy handed middleweights will slug it out during UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31 from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Check out Rivera as he speaks on his two pickaxes and much more in the video below:
You'll excuse Strikeforce's Trevor Prangley (22-5 MMA, 3-1 SF) if he's not buying into the hype.
Prangley's opponent at tonight's "Strikeforce Challengers VI: Kaufman
vs. Hashi" event in San Jose, Calif., Karl Amoussou (11-2-1 MMA, 0-0
SF), enters the contest as a much ballyhooed prospect. But Prangley, a
nine-year veteran, has dealt with his share of young contenders.
"I've fought a lot of guys that are really skilled, but I've always
been able to implement my pace and my gameplan," Prangley recently told
MMAjunkie.com Radio. "I don't think this will
be any different."
The Herschel Walker hype machine continues to push his upcoming debut at Strikeforce: Miami set for January 30. Here’s the interview he recently did with Fanhouse(Ariel Helwani).
