Shane Carwin recently joined ESPN SportsCenter to discuss his impending heavyweight title clash withBrock Lesnar during UFC 116 this Saturday evening in Las Vegas.
“You’re going to see Brock Lesnar knocked out on the canvas,” stated Carwin when asked to offer a prediction for his upcoming bout with the former WWE superstar and Division I NCAA wrestling champion.

Cheaters never win. But thieves can prosper - and apparently gain some
international exposure in the process.
After shocking many MMA fans with his brazen thiefdom during a
pay-per-view broadcast this past weekend, UFC 115's mystery hat-stealer
earned a spot on this week's ESPN-SportsCenter's "Not Top 10" list.
At UFC 115, the same fan swiped hats off both Ben Rothwell and Paulo
Thiago - and nearly swiped another off Martin Kampmann - during their
walkouts to the cage.
UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will return to the Octagon in the summer, and he revealed via ESPN SportsCenter that he is completely healed from his bout with intestinal diverticulitis. Here’s the quote:
“It’s a miracle. The (doctors) were dumbfounded. They couldn’t find anything wrong with my stomach. I’ve had colonoscopys done and CTC scans and there was nothing there.”
Several times during the telecast both Lesnar and UFC president Dana White called it a “miracle” and the UFC will look for the chance to pit Lesnar against the winner of the upcoming Shane Carwin Vs. Frank Mir bout set for UFC 111. White further elaborated that the winner of the Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Nogueira bout at UFC 110 would become the number one contender for the title(after the winner of Carwin vs. Mir, but they would recieve a shot if the winner of that bout was unable to fight in the summer).
The MMA News will keep you up to date on this story.
You can call UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar “The Miracle Man” after the massive former NCAA wrestling champion recently announced that he has been given a clean bill of health following an illness that very well could have ended his career in mixed martial arts indefinitely.
Lesnar made the announcement alongside UFC President Dana White on this morning’s edition of ESPN Sportscenter.
Lesnar went on to describe how a hole had been created in his intestine due to a serious medical condition that was initially misdiagnosed as mononucleosis. His doctor then put Brock on antibiotic and pain killers instead of removing the colon and ending his fighting career for good. Lesnar admitted that he was preparing for surgery and had even lost 40 pounds from his normally 300+ pound frame.
True to form, Brock refused to give in to the disease and fought back, putting back on thirty pounds before a January 5 check-up revealed that the condition had ceased to be.
“It’s a miracle,” said Lesnar. “There’s no signs of any problem anywhere in stomach, It’s just a miracle!”
According to Dana White, Lesnar’s doctor agreed with the champion’s assessment, stating, “You got a lottery ticket. This is unbelievable that you don’t need surgery. It’s a miracle.”
“There’s literally no sign that anything is existing in there,” said Brock.
White went on to further state that Lesnar is expected to make a return to action this Summer where he is expected to face off with the winner of an interim title fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin, but if anything should happen to the winner of that match-up, the shot will go to the winner of Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
While a press conference was previously expected to be held by the UFC this week to clear up the dark cloud that has hovered over the future of the promotion’s current heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, it now appears as though the news will surface in a somewhat less formal setting.
Lesnar will appear on tomorrow evening’s ESPN Sportscenter broadcast which will kick off at 11 am ET according to a recent report from MMAJunkie.com who were recently able to confirm the news through UFC officials.
Lesnar has been missing from action since his UFC 100 mugging of Frank Mir in July of 2009.
Brockamania has been running wild throughout the mixed martial arts community in the days since the massive champion’s absence, with one of the more absurd published reports stating that the normally 300+ pound former NCAA champion wrestler has somehow managed to dwindle down to the 220 pound mark.
Common sense and numerous reports from those close to Lesnar would lead one to conclude that the former WWE superstar will be making a return to the Octagon sometime in the future, and hopefully with tomorrow’s announcement some of the lingering questions hanging over the oversized head of Lesnar will finally be laid to rest.
As it stands currently, Shane Carwin and Frank Mir are set to square off at UFC 111 to decide the promotion’s interim heavyweight tile in Brock’s absence.
