With the launch of its new website, the WDFPF has begun publishing a list of lifters who are drug tested by the federation or one its national affiliates, along with the results of those tests. In doing so, the federation joins the IPF, and its affiliates, as well as the AAU as federations which carry out the practice that puts them inline with the WADA Code.
The WDFPF and its affiliates carried out 151 tests, including seven out of competition tests, in 2009. Sixty-one of those test results are still pending, including tests dating back to May. The ADFPF performed 20 of those tests. Two of the three lifters who failed drug tests in 2009 were Americans. In addition, one of nine failures in 2008 was an American.

Hardcore MMA fans have long discussed the reasons why Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem won’t defend his title, with drug testing in North America coming up often. Seems that M-1 also has questions regarding Overeem’s apparent “growth.” Here’s the quote, via HeadKickLegend:
M-1’s Apy Echteld said that they were interested in fighting Overeem, however they would not fight unless Overeem was drug tested leading up to the fight. In response, Martijn de Jong from Overeem’s team expressed his belief that Fedor deserves a shot at this Strikeforce title, and that they look forward to a potential fight.
The article mentions that there may be a Overeem vs. Rogers bout set for May, which would be the same card that Fedor takes on Fabricio Werdum. Overeem vs. Rogers sounds like a solid match and if both Overeem and Fedor won it would make for a no brainer next match up. Will it happen? We’ll just have to wait and see.
