Both men will be fighting for The Consequences Charity, a nonprofit organization that works to prevent adolescent criminal behavior via community support and intervention programs.

“I am honored to step into the ring with a great fighter like Fres Oquendo,” Arlovski stated Wednesday. “This is going to be an exciting exhibition match but we already know the winner: the children we are helping.”

Arlovski last appeared at the “Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields” event in June of 2009, losing to heavyweight Brett Rogers at the 22 second mark of the first round via TKO (punches). That loss marked Arlovski’s second straight defeat which included a January 2009 loss to WAMMA heavyweight champ Fedor Emelianenko. Arlovski had been on a five fight win streak before those losses which included victories over Roy Nelson, Ben Rothwell, and Fabricio Werdum.

Oquendo (31-5 boxing record) is ranked among boxing’s heavyweight division’s top 10 by many media outlets. “I have seen Arlovski in the ring and in the cage, and I am excited to be able to showcase my skills against an MMA legend,” Oquendo stated. “Believe me, we are going to go at it for four rounds with the goal that every punch and every blow helps this cause.”
