Frank Mir Still Thinking About Light Heavyweight.

UFC heavyweight fighter Frank Mir seems way to big to drop to light heavyweight, but he’s still interested in doing so if the right circumstances arose. With the heavyweight division seeming to be leaving him behind that may not be a bad move, if he could make the cut effectively. Still Mir will look for a win against Mirko Cro Cop in the main event of this weeks UFC 119. Here’s the entire card as it stands:

The latest event under the Bellator Fighting Championship banner, Bellator 28, is taking place at the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts in New Orleans, Louisiana tonight.

The main card kicks off on Fox Sports Net, as well as it’s regional sports network affiliates, at 8 PM EST (5 PM PST).

Bellator 28 marks the first event to feature no tournament bouts on the card. For fans not entirely familiar with Bellator events, preliminary bouts will take place before and after the live broadcast. This ensures the promotion makes their television timings for the show.

LAS VEGAS - It took AMP Energy to make it happen, but Zuffa, LLC will finally bring a fight card to Phoenix.

WEC and AMP Energy officials announced at Wednesday night's WEC 50 event
that the Phoenix area had been declared the winner of AMP Energy's
two-month long contest, "Hometown Takedown."

Phoenix edged out finalists Milwaukee and Nashville, Tenn., in the
voting-based contest, which allowed fans to select from a list of 30
cities and determine where the WEC will visit in December.

WEC 50: Cruz vs. Benavidez 2 is scheduled to take place on August 18, 2010 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada and will feature a main event match between Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and number one contender Joseph Benavidez. Originally Urijah Faber was supposed to fight Takeya Mizugaki on this card but an injury to Faber has moved the match to a later date.

A lightweight bout pitting Danny Castillo against promotional newcomer Dustin Poirier is a late addition to the upcoming WEC 50 card.

WEC officials today formally announced the bout.

WEC 50 takes place Aug. 18 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and features a headliner between bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz and Joseph Benavidez.
