The World Drug-Free Powerlifting Federation invites interested parties in Canada to apply for affiliation to
the WDFPF, with immediate effect.
This situation has arisen following the cessation of membership of the Canadian Drug-Free Powerlifting
Association (CDFPA).

Fresh off a barnburner with fellow Canadian Yves Jabouin at WEC 49, Mark Hominick takes on another hard-swinging featherweight when he meets Leonard Garcia on the televised portion of WEC 51.

The match-up was first reported by MMAWeekly.com and confirmed today by MMAjunkie.com via sources close to the promotion.

Although not officially announced, WEC 51 takes place Sept. 30 at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo., and airs live on Versus.

52-year-old Canadian Ron Strong (275) set a new M2 IPF World Record on April 10 at the CPU Canadian National Powerlifting Championships in Quebec City, Quebec. Strong's 706 pounds (320.5kg) deadlift overtook Ukrainian Viktor Naleikin's mark of 705 pounds (320kg).

Canadian MMA fans, adjust your calendars.

After much recent speculation that the UFC's return to Montreal might
be filling a different spot on your day planner, UFC president Dana
White has confirmed a switch to Yahoo! Sports.

UFC 113 has been pushed back one week from its planned date of May 1 and will now take place on May 8, though no adjustment has been made to the planned venue of Montreal's Bell Centre, host of two previous UFC events.



Youngster Rory MacDonald plans on setting up permanent shop in the UFC

There have been younger fighters in the UFC than Canadian Rory MacDonald (9-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), but not many.

As he prepares to make his debut for the world's largest mixed martial
arts organization at tonight's "UFC Fight Night 20: Maynard vs. Diaz"
event in Fairfax, Va., the 20-year-old undefeated welterweight finds it
difficult to hide his enthusiasm.

"It's a dream come true," MacDonald recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio. "It's awesome."
