After much recent speculation that the UFC's return to Montreal might UFC 113 has been pushed back one week from its planned date of May 1 and will now take place on May 8, though no adjustment has been made to the planned venue of Montreal's Bell Centre, host of two previous UFC events.

Meet director JJ Thomas has indicated that Canadian Glendy Randall won the women's best lifter honors at the AAPF Raw National Championships that were held on April 16-18 in Detroit, Michigan. 
52-year-old Canadian Ron Strong (275) set a new M2 IPF World Record on April 10 at the CPU Canadian National Powerlifting Championships in Quebec City, Quebec. Strong's 706 pounds (320.5kg) deadlift overtook Ukrainian Viktor Naleikin's mark of 705 pounds (320kg). 
Canadian Jean-Francois Caron (308) deadlifted a new WPA World Record on March 14 at the CPA Provincial Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec. 
Suzie Hartwig-Gary (114), Eric Kupperstein (132) and Canadian Alex Drolc (220) captured the women's division and men's lightweight and heavyweight divisions, respectively, at today's USAPL
