But he’d like to fight someone rich like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson or Tito Ortiz, or someone famous.

In all seriousness, Bonnar is ready for his rematch with Krzysztof Soszynski after their fight was stopped at UFC 110 in February. “The American Psycho” is happy that the fight will take place in Las Vegas instead of Australia with “better” qualified doctors who won’t stop a fight because they see some blood.

Paul Daley Predicting Return To The UFC

May 27th, 2010 | Author: TheMMANews.com
This article was originally published at TheMMANews.com. Copyright: TheMMANews.com.

Paul_DaleyPaul “Semtex” Daley say’s that money will speak louder than his actions once fan pressure builds. He feels the UFC will have to take a hard look at him and the amount of money they could make from his return once he’s won the fans back and put together a successful win streak.

“I’m just going to be me now. When people say why am I not in the UFC I’ll say the same thing as ever. If you’re winning fights and a lot of people are talking about you… whether Dana White likes it or not, he’s all about the money,” he says.

“If I can bring money to the UFC, everybody’s talking about Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley, how much better he’s got since the Koscheck fight, all these top names he’s beaten outside of the UFC, Dana’s got to respond to the fans at some point.”

“…my intention is just to get better as a fighter anyway. I’m not looking to get back into the UFC. Obviously if they offered me I wouldn’t say no. I just want to keep fighting, keep winning and getting better.”

Daley was released by White after he punched opponent Josh Koscheck in the face after the bell sounded to end their fight at UFC 113 in Montreal.

The British welterweight is scheduled to appear at an Impact Fighting Championships event in Australia on July 3rd against an unnamed opponent.

Dana White optimistic about producing 100 shows a year, opening office in China

May 27th, 2010 | Author: Five Ounces of Pain
This article was originally published at Five Ounces of Pain. Copyright: Five Ounces of Pain.

With their sites already firmly locked onto international markets such as Europe, Canada, and Australia, the UFC currently appears poised to take China by storm.

On the heels of announcing a recently assembled office in Canada, UFC President Dana White recently spoke optimistically on the prospect of the company taking its act to Asia in the very near future.

“Right now, what we’ve used to go into Europe and even Australia is our U.K. office,” said White during a recent report on MMAJunkie.com. “But we’re looking right now – and here I go jumping ahead of myself and saying stuff before we do it – but we’re going to open an office in China.”

White went on to speculate that the UFC could end up producing a total of 100 shows a year if everything continues going according to plan.

“This is is a work in progress,” White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “We bought this company, and we were doing five fights a year. If you would have told me six or seven years ago that we’d be doing 34 fights a year, I would have said, ‘That’s impossible. It’ll never happen. That’s crazy.’ We’re probably going to end up doing 100 fights a year.

“We could have a show [in the U.S.] on Saturday night and five more going on in five other countries. That’s what’s going to eventually happen. It’s figuring this thing out, putting the pieces together, and like I said, it’s a work in progress. But I’m telling you guys, I said it years ago, and I’ve been saying it – how big this thing is going to be. I think people are now really starting to realize how big this thing is really going to be.”

UFC 114 Predictions

May 27th, 2010 | Author: CageCraze.com
This article was originally published at CageCraze.com. Copyright: CageCraze.com.

Here’s the latest predictions from my warped view of the upcoming UFC 114 card.
There’s five fights scheduled for the main PPV portion of the card and two fights slated to air on Spike TV. First up will be the Quick Hit predictions on the fights not slated for air, then the Spike TV fights and finally the PPV card.

Quick Hit’s

Ryan Jensen over Jesse Forbes.
Aaron Riley over Joe Brammer.
Luiz Cane over Cyrille Diabate
Melvin Guillard over Waylon Lowe

Spike TV fights

Efrain Escudero (13-1) vs. Dan Lauzon (12-3).
Escudero was one of the more highly touted fighters to come off The Ultimate Fighter reality show in recent memory. In his three post TUF bouts, he’s 2-1 and coming off a loss via submission in his last outing.

Lauzon is 0-2 in his two appearances in the UFC and the latest news on him is that he and his now former training camp have had an ugly split.

Prediction: Escudero over Lauzon.

Amir Sadollah (4-1) vs. Dong Hyun Kim (12-0-1, 1 NC)

Again we have another TUF winner in Sadollah. Sadollah has won his fights either via submission or decision. His one loss was a TKO.

Kim has two decisions and a TKO for his three wins in the UFC.

Prediction: Kim over Sadollah by unanimous decision.

PPV Main Card

Welterweight bout: Diego Sanchez (23-3) vs. John Hathaway (13-0).

After a three-fight foray in the Lightweight division, Sanchez is back in the welterweight division. His last fight saw him stopped by BJ Penn in the lightweight title bout at UFC 107.

Hathaway has won two straight decisions in his UFC run. All three of his bouts have been overseas and he’s looking to make an impression on a USA audience.

Prediction: Sanchez over Hathaway by unanimous decision.

Heavyweight bout: Todd Duffee (6-0) vs. Mike Russow (12-1-0, 1 NC).

Duffee’s UFC debut lasted all of six seconds before Duffee notched the fastest knockout in UFC history.

Russow is also making his second trip into the Octagon after picking up a win over Justin McCulley at UFC 102 via unanimous decision.

Prediction: Duffee over Russow by technical knockout.

Light-Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (18-3-0) vs. Jason Brilz (18-2-1).

Nogueria was originally slated to face UFC poster boy Forrest Griffin at this event. But a shoulder injury to Griffin opened the door for Brilz.

Brilz has won 3 of 4 fights in the UFC. Nogueira has a TKO win in his lone fight in the UFC but has won pretty much everywhere he’s competed.

Prediction: Nogueira over Brilz via KO.

Co-Main Event

Middleweight bout: Michael Bisping (19-3) vs. Dan Miller (11-3-0, 1 NC).

Bisping, another TUF winner, is fighting to keep his status as the MMA poster boy across the pond. If not to stay relevant, never mind being in title contention.

Miller is looking to take a step up the ladder and Bisping is a big enough name to do that against.

Bisping’s been fighting at 185 pounds since losing to Rashad Evans at 205 at UFC 78 in November of 2007. He came out hot winning three straight fights at 185 before he ran into Dan Henderson at UFC 100.

Let’s just say that Bisping had a good nap that evening.

He bounced back with a TKO win over veteran Denis Kang at UFC 105 in his home country of England. He then lost a close decision to Wanderlei Silva in Sydney, Australia at UFC 110 in February.

Being 1-2 in his last three fights, “The Count” needs a win desperately.

Miller has lost two straight fights to guys that have either challenged for the middleweight title (Damien Maia) or will challenge for the belt (Chael Sonnen).

He also needs to pick up a win or it might mean the end of his run in the UFC.

Prediction: Bisping over Miller by unanimous decision.

MAIN EVENT

A LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT GRUDGE MATCH
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (30-7) vs. “Suga” Rashad Evans (19-1-1)

This all started easily enough. At UFC 96, Jackson beat Keith Jardine a teammate of Evans.

At the time Evans had the belt at 205 and it appeared that Jackson would be the first challenger in line to take a shot at Evans.

That didn’t happen and Evans suffered the first loss of his career to Lyoto Machida.

Then the two aficionados trash talk were picked as coaches for Season 10 of TUF to hype a fight between the two at the end of that season.

The fight still didn’t happen. Rampage went off to Canada to film the upcoming A-Team moive. Evans beat Thiago Silva at UFC 108.

Now, finally, here we are. UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans.

I still think a wildcard in this fight could be which one of these guys remembers that they have a base in wrestling.

I expect both to be launching bombs disguised as overhand rights or left hooks but I think both will be aware of that and Plan B may have to be used for one to finish the fight.

Prediction: I like Evans to remember his takedown skills and get Jackson in a Ground N Pound situation.

Rampage is bigger but I like Evans’ speed in this fight.

Prediction: Evans over Jackson via TKO.

Now watch there be a KO in the first 30 seconds. That’d be just my luck.

Until Next Time

Michael Bisping: Time to make it ‘Count’

May 26th, 2010 | Author: UFC Press Releases

Elliot Worsell, UFC - Three months ago Michael 'The Count' Bisping was a guillotine choke and a right-handed haymaker away from beating Wanderlei Silva in Sydney, Australia. Comfortable and seemingly in control, Bisping poked and prodded his way around Silva's desperate swings in an attempt to cleverly diffuse the legendary striker for three rounds.

The WPC and IPF Butt Heads in Australia?

This article was originally published at PowerLiftingWatch.com. Copyright: PowerLiftingWatch.com.

To follow is a statement that was issued by Paul Nay, President of CAPO Powerlifting Australia, Inc.; who is affiliated with the WPC and GPC. Since Powerlifting Watch reports both sides, we contacted Mr. Wilks for a reply statement. Mr. Wilks did issue a statement; and so it is now up to the readers of Powerlifting Watch to read both statements and decide for themselves.

Dear members,

You may not be aware but over a long period of time I have worked very hard to have all of our CAPO Powerlifting events held at excellent venues for us. I have been working even longer on being able to build a relationship with Victorian Weightlifting Committee so we can have some of our events held there. This had been achieved up until a very short time ago.

Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Michael Langhi
Michael Langhi (Alliance) defeats Phillip della Monica (Gracie Barra) at the 2009 World Championship.

Remember the word back in 2008 about the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation ramping up its push for membership? This year the IBJJF is taking some very concrete steps in that direction which affect the way the 2010 BJJ World Championships will be carried out. I’ll post them below but as you read them, if you have any questions about them, please email them to me by Monday! I will be interviewing an IBJJF representative this coming week on the matter!

Starting at the worlds 2010, at any IBJJF event. It is mandatory for all the black belts to carry their federation membership id cards. Its required to present the I.D card to the event official prior to the match.

IBJJF Membership ids and affiliated federation ids accepted for this event; IBJJF (for non US, Brazil, Japan, France and Portugal residents the IBJJF id is applicable), USBJJF for US residents, CBJJ for Brazil Residents, Japan federation for Japan residents, France Federation for France residentes Portugal federation for Portugal residents, Australia Federation for Australia residents.
For the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2010, IBJJF will release complimentary membership ids for the black belts registered in the world jiu-jitsu championship 2010. This includes the coaches with athletes registered in the event.

If you do not follow the guidelines, IBJJF reserves the right to deny participation of any athlete in this division. All registers in the Black Belt division are under IBJJF approval.

On Sunday during the black belt finals, coaches will be allowed next to the mat for the first time. Here are the rules about coaching that are new.

In any event, when coaches are allowed to be inside the competition area, the coach must wear the vest supplied by the event. The coach must present his/her black belt membership id from the authorized entities, valid for the current year. The coach must return the vest once he leaves the competition area, after the athletes match is over.

There will be 2 chairs located by the score keepers table per ring area, behind the publicity panels, where the coach will be seated.

The coach is responsible for the athletes conduct from the moment you enter and exit the event.

The coach’s action inside the competition area is limited to the communication to the athlete. Tactics and strategies advises, motivating, instructions to umpredictable situations, injuries.
The coach must remain seated during he whole match.

More details about the coaching situation can be found here, and full details about black belt registration requirements are here.

Like I said, if you have any comments about these changes, please email them to me as soon as possible so I can get those questions answered for you.

Karo Parisyan returns at Impact Fighting Championships in Australia on July 10

Karo “The Heat” Parisyan will next strap on the gloves against Brazilian Luis Dutra Jr. at Impact Fighting Championships in Australia on July 10. The former UFC welterweight standout was unable to reach an agreement with Strikeforce this week so instead opted to join fellow UFC outcasts Paul Daley and Josh Barnett on the upstart promotions inaugural Aussie card.

“I [haven't] fought for a year-and-a-half, (so) it’s exciting…time to get on top again,” Parisyan told MMAJunkie.com.

Parisyan (18-5-0) last saw action at UFC 94 in January 2009, defeating Dong Hyun Kim by split decision. The result was later changed to a no-contest when a post-fight drug test revealed the presence of prescription painkillers. He was later released from the world’s premiere MMA organisation after pulling out of his scheduled UFC 106 bout with Dustin Hazelett in November 2009.
