We at the Massachusetts Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation wish to extend an invitation to any students from your academy to join us for our Tap out or work out tournament of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. All belts, weights, and age classes. Men, Women, and Kids division. Enclosed is a flyer with the fees for the tournament. We look forward to seeing you at the competition.

First fight will begin at 10:30AM white belt division, followed by blue, purple, brown and black. All fighters will weigh in before their first fight.

Absolute division will combine blue and purple belts. To compete in absolute division the fighters have to fight on his own division,

CHICAGO, Ill. (April 23, 2010) — The action-packed three-round Bellator 14 fight between up-and-coming Macon, Ga., product Bryan Goldsby and MMA legend Jeff Curran is now available for viewing in its entirety exclusively at Bellator.com.

The fight, which was the Local Main Event at Bellator’s April 15th show at the historic Chicago Theatre, did not air as a part of that evening’s live FOX Sports Net broadcast, but provided a thrilling conclusion to the evening for those in attendance.

The fight also served as a coming out party of sorts for the 28-year-old Goldsby, who drew attention from talent evaluators and organizations around the country with his quickness, powerful striking and commanding ground game. At the same time, Curran, who was fighting in front of a hometown crowd, turned in yet another one of the tough and relentless performances that have made him a fan favorite over the course of his decade-long MMA career.

The fight went the distance before Goldsby was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

“In a season full of great fights, the Bellator 14 showdown between Bryan Goldsby and Jeff Curran was a another great watch,” said Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Unfortunately, our fans around the country didn’t get to see it live. "Countdown to UFC 113," the official preview show for the next Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-view event, debuts April 29 on Spike TV.

The UFC's longtime cable partner debuts the one-hour special at 11 p.m. ET/PT. A Spike TV official told MMAjunkie.com that replays air April 30 at 1 a.m. ET/PT and May 1 at 11 a.m. ET/PT.

UFC 113 takes place May 8 at Montreal's Bell Centre with a main event and rematch between UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.

With its April Korean event officially canceled, the Japanese-based DREAM promotion holds its next show, DREAM.14, on May 29.

In addition to a previously announced non-title headliner of Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz vs. Hayato Sakurai, a trio of featherweight bouts has been added to the card.

They include Joachim Hansen vs. Hiroyuki Takaya, Hideo Tokoro vs. Akiyo "Wicky" Nishiura, and Kazuyuki Miyatan vs. Takafumi Otsuka.



Bellator coming to Dallas on May 20

CHICAGO, Ill. (April 20, 2010) — Bellator Fighting Championships, the fist-of-its-kind tournament-style mixed martial arts promotion will bring its world-class, nationally-televised brand of MMA to the Lone Star State next month.

The event—which will be broadcast LIVE and in prime time across the country on FOX Sports Net and during special weekend highlight shows on NBC, Telemundo and mun2—takes place on Thursday, May 20th at the Verizon Theatre (formerly the Nokia Theatre) in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The event includes a special Bellator Super Fight between reigning Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Soto and former UFC contender Diego “The Octopus” Saraiva.

Bellator Season 3 begins August 12th. Both seasons run for 12 consecutive weeks.

Michael O’Brien Jr. Takes Back 1st Place Total

On Saturday, April 17th, 21-year-old Michael O'Brien (148) competed at the 12th Annual IPA Powerpalooza where his squat of 680 pounds, bench press of 430 pounds and deadlift of 525 pounds earned him a 1,635 pound total. All of O'Brien's lifts were IPA Junior World Records.

spiketvThe World Extreme Cagefighting organization has teamed up with Spike TV to air live two preliminary bouts on April 24th preceding the live pay-per-view of “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” event. The telecast will air live from the Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif. beginning at 9 p.m. EST (6 p.m. PST) on Spike TV.

Besides offering the two prelim bouts, Spike will also air “Countdown to Aldo vs. Faber” on Wednesday, April 21 at midnight EST/PST.

The show, named “Aldo vs. Faber Prelims Live” will feature former “The Ultimate Fighter” season one contestant Alex Karalexis (10-4) against Anthony Pettis (8-1) in a battle of lightweight (155 lb) contenders and Leonard Garcia (17-5-1) vs. Chan Sung Jung (10-1) in a featherweight (145 lb) contest.

Karalexis, fighting out of Las Vegas, honed his mixed martial arts skills in the inaugural season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and made an immediate impact on the world scene at the “The Ultimate Fighter 1” finale in April 9, 2005 with a win over Josh Rafferty. Karalexis has won four of his last six fights, including a first round TKO win over Greg McIntyre in March 2009.

23-year-old Milwaukee native Pettis is an up-and-coming lightweight contender who trains with UFC veteran Pat Barry and is a protégé of Muay Thai trainer Duke Roufus. A winner of two of his last three contests, Pettis will look to utilize his rapid-fire combination of heavy-handed punches, high kicks, knees, and elbows to defeat the veteran Karalexis.

Training under world-renowned coach Greg Jackson in Albuquerque, N.M., Garcia has fought many of the world’s toughest contenders, including Roger Huerta, Jens Pulver, Cole Miller, and Manny Gamburyan. One of the sport’s most entertaining fighters, the Lubbock, Texas native aims to utilize his superior standup skills versus the South Korean dynamo, Jung.

Nicknamed the “Korean Zombie,” Jung is a brash 23-year-old making his debut fight on American soil against Garcia. Renowned for being able to deliver, as well as absorb, incredible amounts of punishment, Jung is an explosive fighter with an unyielding will to win.

Bellator 14 weigh-ins and pre-fight presser set for April 14 in Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. (April 12, 2010) — Bellator Fighting Championships will host a pre-event press conference in conjunction with the official weigh-in for Bellator 14 on Wednesday, April 14th in advance of the promotion’s Thursday evening event at the Chicago Theatre.

The press-conference/weigh-in will begin promptly at 6 p.m. CT at the Hotel Sax, 333 N. Dearborn Street in downtown Chicago.

The event will feature photo and media opportunities with all 16 of the event’s competitors including former NCAA wrestling champion and U.S. Olympian Ben Askren, former UFC welterweight star Ryan “The Tank Engine” Thomas, MMA legend and top Chicago MMA trainer Jeff Curran and up-and-coming female fighter Felice Herrig.
