October 9 in Illinois: US Grappling Chicago

Preregistration is open for for US Grappling – Chicago, a gi and no-gi tournament in at the Oak Lawn Pavilion on Saturday, October 9th.

Things that will make this tournament run smoother than your typical jiu jitsu tournament:

1. No kids. This is an adults only BJJ and submission grappling tournament. This means that the adult divisions will begin at the beginning of the day (first matches start at 11 AM!).

2. We will be capping competitors at 500! This venue, our staff, and our bracketing can handle this many competitors in a very efficient manner throughout the day.

This gi and no-gi event will have divisions for men, women, and 30+ men.

The first 100 competitors to preregister (and pay) will receive a free event t-shirt.

Prizes for all adult absolute (open weight divisions)!
Gi: US Grappling is giving away a custom embroidered gi for men’s and women’s white belt, blue belt, purple belt, brown belt, and black belt absolute division winners!
No-gi: USG is giving away a board shorts and rashguards for all men’s and women’s absolute no-gi novice, beginner, intermediate, and advanced champions!

Saturday weigh ins will be held at the venue from 8 AM to 9:30 AM for anyone competing in no gi divisions, and will be extended to noon for anyone that will only be competing in the gi. Competitors can also register and weigh in Friday night from 6 to 8 PM (night before weigh-in location to be decided). If you weigh in Friday night, you do not need to weigh in on Saturday!

Competitors do not need to wear the gi during weigh ins.

First matches will begin at 11 AM.

Note: This event is for adults only. Teens may compete in adult divisions with permission of their parents and coaches.

State Line Grappling Championships is back! SLGC 2 will be at the Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club in Bristol, TN on Saturday, September 18, 2010.

This is a no gi submission grappling tournament using modified US Grappling rules. Adult divisions have 3 skill divisions – beginner (less than 1 year), intermediate (1 year to 3 years), and advanced (over 3 years).

US Grappling returns to Savannah, GA on Saturday, June 26, 2010 for our tenth Submission Only event! Registration is now open!

Saturday weigh ins will be held from 8 AM to 10 AM for anyone competing in no gi divisions, and will be extended to noon for anyone that will only be competing in the gi. Competitors can also register and weigh in Friday night from 6-8 PM at the venue. Competitors do not need to wear the gi during weigh ins.

US Grappling presents the NC BJJ Championships Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Net Sports in Morrisville, NC (just outside Raleigh).

This event will have single elimination divisions for men, women, 30+ men, and juveniles (ages 4-17). Teens will be permitted to compete in adult divisions with the permission of their parents / coaches.

Saturday weigh ins will be held from 8 AM to 10 AM for anyone competing in no gi divisions, and will be extended to noon for anyone that will only be competing in the gi. 2010 Weight Class Update

As of January 1, 2010 US Grappling’s weight classes for adult divisions have been updated to bring them in line with the IBJJF classes.

Juvenile (ages 4 -17) divisions will continue to use the Madison system.

The new weight classes are as follows:

Men / 30+

  • Rooster: Up to 122.5
  • Super Feather: 135.5
  • Feather: 149.00
  • Light: 162.00
  • Middle: 175.50
  • Medium Heavy: 188.50
  • Heavy: 202.00
  • Super Heavy: 215.00
  • Ultra Heavy: Over 215.00

Women

  • Super Feather: Up to 113.50
  • Feather: 124.50
  • Light: 135.50
  • Middle: 147.00
  • Medium Heavy: 158.00
  • Heavy: Over 158.00

Competitors are not required to weigh in wearing the gi.
