USAPL Pennsylvania Championships, Penn State University, March 20th & 21st 2010
December 16th, 2009 | Author: timpaneDear Lifters,
I started running Powerlifting competitions back in 1998 at Penn State University, as a lifter of the Penn State Powerlifting Team. This year I am returning to where I first ran events, with the 2010 USAPL Pennsylvania State Championships. This will be held right on the campus of Penn State University.
We are PROUD to donate a portion of the profits from this year’s event to THON, which is a yearly fundraiser for Kids with Cancer. This is a great cause that we enjoy being able to give to.
Something else we are going to offer for the first time is a division called “Old School”. This division will only allow equipment from back in the 1990’s and earlier. I have highlighted in the final page all the allowable old school equipment. This is a fun throw back division that will allow lifters to compete in old equipment in deep formula based divisions.
We have an unorthodox lifting schedule due to the time of which the buildings on the campus of Penn State open. We are trying to get them open earlier, to fit our normal schedule, but at this point in time, the schedule is set.
We plan to run this in a two platform setup suited with ER racks and Ivanko weights, with barload projections on each platform and a HUGE warm-up area. We again will be using our custom medals, this year with Penn State colors. For the Old School division, we are planning to get Old School trophies.
On a final note, the YMCA National Swimming Championships is being held the same weekend, which as you would guess, is booking the hotels. We have signed an agreement with one of the few hotels left with rooms. The only reason it’s available, is it is a brand new hotel! Please book early and with providing your room confirmation # below you will receive a FREE event t-shirt. For every night you stay, you get an extra t-shirt!
Hope you come out!
Steve Mann
